What to do between Travel Assignments?
I was on the phone with my parents when my dad asked me if I was unemployed. I had never thought about it from that perspective. I had just finished my assignment and had another scheduled, but for the next few weeks, I would be without a paycheck or a job, so I guess I am.
Though I usually take a few weeks off in-between assignments you don’t have to. Some people jump from one assignment to another only having a weekend or even a day in between.
Because I usually choose assignments in different states or multiple hours of travel apart I make sure I do not need to rush to my new assignment. But if you do this, make sure you save-up enough money to support yourself (and your family) in between. And you will need to ask yourself, will your health insurance will cover you.
Relax and maybe visit Home.
Burnout is large in healthcare so make sure you take some time to yourself and relax. This may be by taking some time to yourself or spend time with those you care about. Go home if it helps or visit friends that you haven’t seen in a while. Maybe acquire a hobby that relaxes or just work or small projects around home to so they can crossed off your list - lifting your mental burden.
Travel when on a break from a Travel Assignment.
Between travel assignments I like to travel even more. I usually go out of the country as I love exploring but you don’t have to. You can do a staycation. Staycations can allow you to explore what you didn’t have to during your assignment or just relax if your favorite part of the state you're in. If not maybe a cruise?
Prepare for your Next Assignment.
It takes a lot to move around constantly and prepare all the new hire paperwork for your next assignment. Make sure you have time without rushing to complete these. Depending on when you get your next job you may be able to complete all of this before you current assignment ends but don’t stress if you don’t. Add a couple of day to each side of your assignments to move, do paperwork, and get settled in before you start again. Good Luck!!!
